The Avery, SoMa’s impending luxury high-rise, reveals new models

As the SoMa/South Beach/East Cut nexus continues to rise, additional options for housing unveil themselves with increasing frequency. Take, for example, the Avery, the neighborhood’s newest luxe high-rise at 488 Folsom.

Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Rem Koolhaas’ OMA (the firm’s first high-rise in San Francisco) with interiors by Clodagh Design, the 56-story, 618-foot-tall sculpted glass tower will offer 118 condominiums starting on the 33rd floor. (Bonus: It’s located across the street from one of San Francisco’s most underrated structures, the PG&E Embarcadero substation.)

In addition to the tony tower on top, the skyscraper will also feature a retail and restaurant-filled plaza area at ground level, boasting a public pathway that cuts diagonally through part of the block, as well as an ancillary building, designed by San Francisco-based architect Anne Fougeron, filled with affordable rental apartments.

As for the luxury top part of the Avery, the building will offer one-, two- and three-bedroom residences, as well as the Avery penthouse collection (in keeping with the current trend of multiple-penthouse residential high-rises).

Each unit comes with floor-to-ceiling windows, marble kitchen counters with full-height backsplashes, Miele appliances, and more.

“The Avery’s interiors were shaped by the Bay Area’s magnificent natural attractions from the redwoods to the ocean,” said Clodagh in the press release. “From endless views to glowing textured woods and natural stones—each finish was carefully selected to connect people to nature.”

Available residences start at the high $1 millions for one-bedrooms, high $2 millions for two-bedrooms, and high $3 millions for three-bedrooms. Moving in will begin as early as mid-2019.
